Welcome to Year 3
Mr Mulkerrin is the current Year 3 teacher, supported by Mr Whittaker and Mrs McKee
This term we have been studying the Celts in topic. The children have really enjoyed finding out about our ancient ancestors.
In Music the children are following the online Charanga music programme, where they are hands on getting involved with the percussion instruments and singing along to their favourite songs.
During our English lessons we have been writing stories on Roman Myths.
Maths this term will involve us following the powermaths scheme within which the children will learn place value, adding and subtracting this half term.
Flowers and planrs is our topic this term for Science.
This term in R.E the children will be learning all about the calling of God as well as the easter festival appraoches.
In our art sessions we have been creating mosaic patterns using coloured squares.
PSHE will be covering the rules in school and class to keep us safe and happy.
The trip for this half term will be a walk up the Coppice to tie in with our Science topic of flowers and plants, the children will be getting hands on studying different flowers and wildlife as well as taking in the scenary of the local area which we have also been studying in Geography this half term.
In ICT the children will be studying digital literacy with Mr McNab loearning about websites, networks and e-safety.
During PE sessions the children are learning the rules of invasion games with a specialist PE teacher, this covers tactics, moving and passing and general ball skills.
Our MFL subject in year 3 is Spanish. We will be learning about countries that speak Spanish, greetings, names and the Spanish alphabet.
Your child needs a school PE kit and pumps or trainers in school.
Homework is due in every Thursday, children are given a whole week to complete their times tables, handwriting practise and spellings.
Reading books are changed: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Please encourage your child to complete their homework and read regularly at home. Practising multiplication tables is also incredibly important so we urge you as parents to regularly test the children on these.
