Welcome to Year 3
Dear parents / carers,
A very warm welcome back, we hope you all had a lovely summer break with lots of rest, fun and quality family time. Miss Milner and I are looking forward to our new year and hope that the children are ready to start year three, and for some exciting learning. Our purpose throughout the year will be to ensure that, in the words of (John 10.10), they will " live and live splendidly". In order to achieve this we will strive every minute of every day to nuture the children mindful of the gospel of St Matthew, where by the seeds that fall on rich soil grown and thrive.
As well as learning, we will, as always, be reminding children of the schools behaviour expectations, our rules and how to conduct ourselves when moving round school.
Little polite reminders:
- Reading books are changed on Monday and Thursday.
- Please name all your child's clothing, to prevent loss and will also encourage responsibility and prevent loss.
- PE is on Tuesday - please remember that PE kits are now to be kept in school and the children attend wearing their school uniform.
- Homework is due in on Friday.
- Every Friday there will be a spelling and times table test.
If you have any concerns or anything we can help you with, please do not hesitate to speak to one of the team who are always ready to listen.
Kind regards,
Mrs Yates and Miss Milner

Curriculum Overview

Homework Grid
Please have a look at the 'Homework Grid' below. Although it is not compulsary, and we understand that family life can be busy, any activities completed will enhance your child's learning.
Reading and Spellings
Your child's reading book will be changed twice a week (Monday and Thursday). If your child still needs a little support, please read with them, talking to them about what they have read and ask questions, which will help with their understanding and comprehension skills. We would also ask you to encourage them to have a go at reading independently. If your child is a little more exeprienced and can read independently, we would also encourage you to ask questions to imbed their understanding and English skills further. If you require extra books, please let one of the team know.
Spellings will be handed out every Friday for a spelling test the following Friday. Please encourage your child to practise their spelling at home, not only will this help them achieve a good score, it will also impact massively on their self esteem.
