Welcome to Year 3
January 2025
Dear parents / carers,
Happy New Year!! Hope you’ve all had a lovely break, and the children are feeling eager to get back into their learning.
As always, the team and I are looking forward to our next term and hope that the children are too!
Little polite reminders:
• Reading books – Until further notice, your library book can used as your home reader. Please try and read at least two times before changing it the following Thursday. * Please remember to bring it back every Thursday. If you haven’t finished reading, you can borrow the book again.
• PE is on Tuesday - please remember that PE kits are now to be kept in school and the children attend wearing their school uniform.
• Homework is due in on Friday.
• Every Friday there will be a spelling and times table test.
Please do not hesitate to speak to one of the team if you have any concerns.
Kind regards, Mrs Yates, Miss Ruggieri and the teaching team.
Please be assured that as a school we are following the most up to date guidelines with your child's safety being one of our highest priorities.
Curriculum Overview
Please have a look at the 'Curriculum Overview' below to find out about all the new things we will be learning about this half term.
Homework Grid
Please have a look at the 'Homework Grid' below. Although it is not compulsary, and we understand that family life can be busy, any activities completed will enhance your child's learning.
Reading and Spelling
Until further notice your library book will be your child's home reader. Please read at least two times before changing it the following Thursday. Remember to bring it back each week, if you haven’t finished it, you can ask if you can borrow the book again.
If your child still needs a little support, please read with them, talking to them about what they have read and ask questions, this will help with their understanding and comprehension skills. We would also ask you to encourage them to have a go at reading independently. If your child is a little more exeprienced and can read independently, we would also encourage you to ask questions to imbed their understanding and English skills further. If you require extra books, please let one of the team know.
Spellings will be handed out every Friday for a spelling test the following Friday. Please encourage your child to practise their spelling at home, not only will this help them achieve a good score, it will also impact massively on their self esteem.
